On Friday 18th October 2013, a Permanent Exhibition called “Hearts + Minds” was launched in a beautifully restored Mount Anville House. The Exhibition celebrates 160 years of Sacred Heart education in Ireland. The exhibition charts the legacy and contribution of the Society of Sacred Heart in Ireland and provides an understanding of its contribution to female education; promotion of the Catholic faith and its role in modern society; and its global family.
“Hearts + Minds” was curated by Dr Deirdre Raftery of UCD and Board Member of the Mount Anville Sacred Heart Education Trust. On display are fascinating historical and archival records relating to Mount Anville and all Sacred Heart schools throughout Ireland, beautifully displayed against the backdrop of Mount Anville House.
The Exhibition takes inspiration from the motto of the Society of the Sacred Heart, “Cor unum et anima una in Corde Jesu”, and aims to give an understanding of the legacy of the Society, by displaying and interpreting items from the Provincial Archives. It shows how current and future pupils are part of a world-wide network of Sacred Heart schools, and a global family sharing the five goals of Sacred Heart education.
It’s wonderful to think that Mount Anville Past Pupils are part of this world-wide network, through its affiliation with the international Sacred Heart Past Pupil Association called AMASC International.
