Geraldine Carton is a Dublin-based contemporary artist specialising in expressive portraiture and enigmatic figurative paintings using oils and acrylics. With a background in social work and socio-environmental activism, Geraldine’s interest lies specifically in the human condition and individual expererience. From toddlers having meltdowns, to women embracing their folding form; capturing moments of vulnerability, expression, personality and connection is at the heart of each piece of work she creates.
Currently, Geraldine is dividing her time between commissioned portraiture, and building a body of work dedicated to the female experience. Spurred on by a growing disgust for the agnst imposed on women by the diet industry (and the dehumanising and unnattainable beauty standards it promotes), this collection of paintings will celebrate women of all ages and sizes who dare to defy these oppressive and reductive “norms”. Expect nudity and integrity, and lots of it.
