Dr Veronica Dunne is 92 years young, she is a past pupil of Mount Anville, where she spent 5 happy years boarding in the 1940’s.
An extract from her autobiography describes her perfectly “Dr Veronica Dunne, affectionately known as Ronnie, has lived a life high on drama and excitement and an invincible dedication to her art”.
Following a highly successful career performing in vast arenas such as Carnegie Hall, the Royal Albert Hall and Convent Garden where she sang with the many of the greats in the world of Opera including Sutherland,Barbirolli ,Kubelik ,Kraus, Ferrier she has had an equally successful career teaching up to the age of 92.
Ronnie is loved and highly respected in the Opera world and by her students, many of whom have gone on to sing at the highest level. Tara Erraught was due to open in the Met in New York in March, and Celine Byrne performs regularly in Ireland as well as at major international events.
Ronnie established the Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition in 1995 to help fund promising young singers, it will next be held in 2022.
