A letter from the Sacred Heart Associates
October 2020
Dear Past Pupil,
I am writing to you by way of invitation – one which is unusual in many ways.
I’m not sure if you have heard of the Associates of the Sacred Heart, a lay group of men and women (mostly women), which meet monthly in three different groups in Dublin and one in Armagh, to pray together, exchange views, follow some programme for the year – all under the guidance of a Sacred Heart Sister.
The Dun Laoghaire and one Mount Anville group are now 20 years in existence. Many of the people in the groups are involved since the beginning, some have moved house, sadly some have passed away and all are now 20 years older. A younger group of people are now needed to carry on the life of Associates.
The purpose of the Associates is to continue the charism of the Society of the Sacred Heart and live it out in our own lives with family and friends. It’s a two-fold task, which goes on for a life-time. The charism is to discover and reveal the love of the Heart of Jesus. The ‘discovering’ is helped along at the monthly meetings which involves praying together, discussing some prepared work (e.g. gospel readings, old testament figures, writings of present pope, etc) and then of course the obligatory cuppa with news from the members and news from the Society.
And so … the Invitation today is being issued to you, It might be that at this stage you have time or desire to seek to rediscover the ethos and charism of school days with the Society, or perhaps have a friend who needs a little inspiration or help along his/her own road of discovery.
If interested please contact: Bridie Curtis at Mount Anville Associates (bomalleycurtis@gmail.com) and you can then be directed to an associate group near you.
Yours sincerely.
Bridie Curtis
On behalf of the Sacred Heart Associates.
