Emily Conway joins Irish start-up Zeus Scooters

Class of 2004
European Operation Manager – Zeus Scooters
I graduated from Mount Anville in 2004 and after completing my business degree and master in management consultancy, I took off to New York on a 1 year J1 graduate visa. Within a month of arriving I started a job as an intern in a corporate travel company, eventually becoming an operations manager within that same company. What was meant to be a one year stay turned into seven amazing years in New York.
In 2016 I made the tough decision to move home but luckily I continued working for my US based company but moved into a project management role , which I loved.
In the midst of the Covid-19 madness, the travel world was one of the hardest industry hit and so it was time to move on from the corporate travel world.
In October 2020 I began my role as European Operations Manager for an Irish owned start up called Zeus Scooters.
Zeus is an Irish company deploying the World’s first 3-wheeled electric scooter for the urban mobility sharing market. Currently we have launched in 6 German cities, with 2 more launches coming up in the next couple of weeks.
I am only few weeks into the role so I am definitely still in the learning phase but from day one, no day has been the same. Everything is moving and evolving so quickly and changes and decisions are made in an instant – I am told this is the speed in which a start-up moves… I’m starting to get used it.
We are launching a number of new cities while also running operations in the 6 cities we are currently operating, so it’s a busy and very exciting time – I’m loving it. Thankfully my years spent in an exhilarating and fast paced city like New York has prepared me for anything!
The hope is to see Zeus scooters in Ireland soon, unfortunately legislation at the moment is preventing us from launching here, but we are looking forward to the day when we will see Zeus scooters on the streets of Ireland, so keep an eye out!
